installr — Privacy Policy

Installr ("the App," "we," "us," "our") is developed by Mistcast, operated by Ankit Ranjan. This Privacy Policy explains what information the App collects, how it's used, and what choices you have. It applies to the Installr Android app available on Google Play.
§01Information We Collect
Information you provide directly: None. Installr does not have a login or account system. You are never asked for your name, email, phone number, or any personal profile information to use the App.

§02Information We Do Not Collect
We do not access, read, or transmit the contents of files you install, back up, or manage using the App. Local features — install history, backups, storage analysis, package inspection, permission and component viewing — process everything on your device. None of that data is sent to us.
§03Permissions the App Uses
Installr requests certain Android permissions to function. Each is used only for the stated purpose:
- Install/uninstall packages: to install and remove APK/XAPK/APKM/APKS files you choose.
- Storage access: to locate and read the package files you select, and to save backups you create.
- Query installed apps: to power the App Details, App Privacy Manager, batch operations, and storage analysis features.
None of these permissions are used to collect or transmit your personal files or app data to us.
§04Third-Party Services
Google Mobile Ads (AdMob) — shown only to users on the free tier. Pro users (purchased, trialing, or claimed via a promotional offer) never have this SDK active, and no ad-related data is collected for them. AdMob's own data practices are described at Google's Privacy Policy.
Firebase (Analytics, Crashlytics, Firestore, Cloud Functions) — used for usage analytics, crash reporting, and the trial/promotional-offer system described above. Governed by Google's Privacy Policy (link above) and Firebase's terms.
Google Play Billing — used to process the Pro purchase. Payment details are handled entirely by Google; we do not receive or store your card or payment information.
§05How We Use Information
- To operate core features (trial tracking, promotional offer eligibility, purchase verification)
- To display relevant ads to free-tier users
- To understand usage patterns and fix crashes/bugs
- To communicate important App updates (via in-app notifications only — we do not have your email or phone number to contact you any other way)
We do not sell your information. We do not use any of the above to build an advertising profile beyond what AdMob independently does for free-tier ad delivery.
§06Data Sharing
We share information only with the third-party service providers listed in §04, each acting in their own capacity (Google, for AdMob/Firebase/Play Billing). We do not sell, rent, or otherwise share your information with any other third party.
§07Data Retention
- Android ID / trial records: retained only as long as needed to enforce the trial and promotional-offer systems.
- Analytics and crash data: retained per Firebase's default retention settings.
- Local on-device data (install history, backups, settings): stays on your device and is deleted if you uninstall the App or clear its data — we have no copy of it.
§08Your Rights and Choices
- Ad-free experience: Purchasing Pro, or using the free trial, removes AdMob entirely and stops related data collection.
- Access, correction, deletion: Since we don't hold an account or profile tied to your identity, most requests are self-service — uninstalling the App removes all local data. For anything related to the limited server-side data we do hold (Android ID trial record), contact us using the details in §12 and we will delete it on request.
- Depending on your location, you may have additional rights under applicable law (e.g., GDPR in the EU/EEA, the UK GDPR, CCPA/CPRA in California, or India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act) — including the right to access, correct, or delete your data, and to object to certain processing. Contact us to exercise these rights.
§09Children's Privacy
Installr is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we will address it promptly.
§10Data Security
We rely on Google Firebase and Google Play's infrastructure security for the limited server-side data described above. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, but we take reasonable measures appropriate to the limited and non-sensitive nature of the data we hold.
§11International Data Transfers
Our third-party providers (Google/Firebase) operate globally. Data may be processed in countries other than your own, under the safeguards those providers maintain.
§12Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the "Last updated" date above. Continued use of the App after changes means you accept the revised policy.
